I’m Sonja Steffen, a naturalist photographer, artist, and surface pattern designer based in Victoria, Australia.

My work begins with the things I notice — a fallen petal, the skeleton of a leaf, a beetle in the garden or something I discover while walking along the beach.

I collect, photograph, paint, scan and experiment with these small observations, allowing them to become something new.
